QUESTION:
Salaam
Trousers which are washed the Islamic way because of a najasat.
Then went into the washing machine, washed everything etc.
Now put back on you can see the stains of najasat.
What should one do?
ANSWER:
After completely removing the Najasat (Roman Urdu: Najasat, meaning ritual impurity), if its mark or stain remains and it cannot be removed without difficulty or hardship, then removing that mark is not Islamically necessary. The objective is the removal of the impurity itself. Therefore, once the Najasat has been removed, the clothing becomes pure (paak).
It is stated in Al-‘Inayah:
(Al-‘Inayah Sharh al-Hidayah, Volume 1, Page 209)
Mufti Amjad Ali A‘zami
If an impure dye is applied to clothing or the hand, or impure henna is applied, then wash it until clean water begins to flow. It will become pure, even if the color remains on the clothing or the hand.”
