QUESTION:
Is it ok to get a tooth filling during menstruation. Or would the gusl not be valid because now with the filling in, it would not touch the tooth. Also if one gets crowns on teeth during menstruating does gusl be fulfilled? جزاك الله خيرا
ANSWER:
During the makhsoos ayyam (specific days, i.e., menstruation), one can have tooth fillings done, and after that, performing ghusl (ritual bath) will also be valid. This is because once the filling is done, it becomes part of the tooth, and it is not necessary to remove it in order to let water flow underneath it.
Similarly, if crowns are such that they cannot be removed to allow water to flow underneath and they are fixed, then due to aziat wa mashaqqat (hardship and difficulty), it is not necessary to remove them to let water flow underneath. Rather, with them in place, allowing water to flow (i.e., rinsing the mouth thoroughly) will suffice for the validity of ghusl.
