[Q 745] Children’s Picture Books Ruling

Question

Are we allowed to buy books like this for children with pictures in then?

Answer

Buying books that contain pictures is undoubtedly permissible, because the intention is to buy the book, not the picture.

Mufti Waqar al-Din رحمه الله, explaining the ruling regarding buying and selling books with pictures, writes:

“In the inquired scenario, it is permissible to sell these books, as this constitutes buying and selling books, not pictures. However, selling a picture separately is haram (forbidden).”
