[Q 726] Ruling on Income from a Business Promoted Through Music

Question

If someone runs dessert shop they advertise their business on social media with songs on the videos what is the religious ruling on their income is it halal or haram?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب

Answer

If the mentioned person runs a dessert shop, and its items are inherently halal, and he sells them in a permissible manner, then merely because of using music in his promotional videos, the income derived from his shop will not be declared haram; rather, the income generated from the sale of goods will be halal.

However, playing music in videos is impermissible according to Sharia, and committing this impermissible act is a separate sin. Repentance for this is obligatory. It is obligatory to avoid using music for promotion, and instead, a permissible method of promotion should be adopted.
