[Q 623] Impurity on Kafan Ruling

QUESTION:

If during ghusl e mayat the kafan gets some kind of nijasat on it (blood etc) what is the ruling on the namaz e janaza is it correct and what should be done in this case

ANSWER:

If after shrouding the deceased (mayyat – deceased person), some impurity (najasat – impurity) such as blood comes out from the body and gets onto the kafan (shroud), then it is not necessary to change the kafan or to purify that portion. Rather, it should be left as it is. However, an attempt should be made to stop it by placing cotton, etc., on the place from which the impurity is coming out. Thereafter, performing the Salat al-Janazah (namaz e janaza – funeral prayer) in this state is also permissible and valid.
