QUESTION:
respected scholars how is to hunt with a bow and arrow will is it halal if you kill it with the arrow or will u have to slaughter by the neck. Is it same ruling as gun
ANSWER:
There are specific conditions for the hunted animal to be halal when hunting with an arrow, etc.
If a Muslim hunted with an arrow and recited tasmiyah (بسم اللہ) at the time of shooting, and the animal died from the impact of the arrow, then this hunted animal is halal. And since the animal had no life remaining before the hunter reached it, a separate slaughter is not necessary. But if after being struck by the arrow, the animal was still alive when the hunter reached it, then it is necessary to slaughter it with a sharp-edged tool; without this, the animal will not be halal. And if the arrow was shot without tasmiyah, or after shooting the arrow the hunter did not slaughter the animal, then the animal will still not be halal.
Remember! Hunting is permissible only when there is a proper purpose. Hunting merely for entertainment and amusement is impermissible and sinful.
The animal hunted by a bullet does not become halal. And the details are in our other fatwa.
