Mehndi (henna) and validity of wudu & ghusl.

Question

Will wudu and ghusl be valid if the cone mehndi (henna) has been applied to the body?

Answer

Mehndi (henna) is of different types.

(1) One type forms a layer coating the skin similar to nail polish. Such a mehndi will prevent the validity of wudu and ghusl.

(2) If it is such a mehndi that only leaves a colouring on the skin without leaving a layer coating the skin then it will not affect the validity of wudu and ghusl.
