QUESTION:
sometimes when i am praying in shalvar kameez, i fold my shalvar up from the top because of it’s length (it’s a bit long) and pray like this. is this a makruh tehreemi act? may Allah paak forgive me if it is.
ANSWER:
Yes, folding the shalwar from the nefa (izar band – waist fastening area) is also included in wrapping up the garment, and it is Makruh Tehreemi (prohibitively disliked) and a sin.
Folding in this manner during Salah (prayer) is impermissible and Makruh Tehreemi. However, folding outside of Salah is not prohibited. Therefore, you should not fold it when performing Salah, and after completing the prayer, if you wish to fold it due to its length, you may do so.
