[Q 563] Does Ihraam Break if Garment Falls?

QUESTION:

I hope you are well. I wanted to ask regarding the rulings of Ihraam during Hajj or Umrah. If a person’s Ihraam garment accidentally falls off or comes off unintentionally, what is the Islamic ruling in this situation? Does this affect the validity of the Ihraam, and is there any penalty (such as fidyah) required?

ANSWER:

If, during the state of Ihram, the Ihram sheets fall off or come off due to some reason unintentionally, this does not affect the validity of the Ihram in any way.

However, deliberately exposing one’s Satr-e-‘Awrah (the area of the body that must be covered) in front of people is Na-Ja’iz (impermissible) and a sin. Therefore, care should be taken that such an act does not occur intentionally.
