[Q 335] T-shirt impact on Salah

Question

Does praying with a t-shirt impact Salah in any way?

Answer

Praying in a t-shirt is valid. However, if a person dislikes going among respectable people in such attire, then it is Makrooh-e-Tanzihi (mildly disliked) and undesirable for them to pray in such clothes. However, if someone does not feel any objection in going among people in such attire, then it is not even Makrooh-e-Tanzihi for them.

Mufti Waqar-ud-Din Sahib رحمۃ اللہ علیہ states: “A half-sleeve kurta, qamees, or shirt is included in the working attire, so for those who do not like to appear before others in such attire, their prayer is Makrooh-e-Tanzihi, and for those who do not feel any objection in appearing before others in such attire, their prayer is not Makrooh.”
