[Q 669] Is It Permissible for Taxi Drivers to Transport Intoxicated Passengers?

QUESTION:

I wanted to ask if it is permissible for taxi drivers to pick up customers from pubs or clubs who are intoxicated with alcohol? Or who are going to go and get intoxicated? Jazakallah for your time.

ANSWER:

It is permissible for a driver to pick up someone from a pub or club and deliver them to another place even if he is intoxicated. In this case, there is no sin on the Muslim driver.
And if the costumer wants to go to a pub or a club, if the driver’s intention is not to help him but to get paid by taking him from one place to another, then it will not be sinful, but should still be avoided as much as possible.
