QUESTION:
Mufti saab, is this accurate? What is the evidence for this in terms of hadith? JazakhAllah Khayr
ANSWER:
The mentioned narration is fabricated (man-gharrat – invented), and to deliberately attribute a fabricated statement to the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم is Haram (forbidden). Severe warnings have been mentioned regarding this in the blessed Ahadith.
It is mentioned in Hadith:
“من کذب علی متعمداً فلیتبوا مقعدہ من النار”
Translation: Whoever deliberately lies upon me, let him prepare his abode in the Hellfire.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Knowledge, Chapter: Sin of one who lies upon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, Volume 1, Page 21, Karachi edition)
Similarly, one should not forward or spread every statement without verification and authentication, because such a person has been described as a liar in Hadith.
It is mentioned in Hadith:
“کفی بالمرء کذبا ان یحدث بکل ما سمع”
Translation: It is sufficient for a person to be considered a liar that he narrates everything he hears.
(Sahih Muslim, Volume 1, Page 10)
Therefore, it is extremely important to avoid sharing messages and posts that contain such unverified narrations.
