[Q 585] Can Women Recite Quran In Periods

QUESTION:

If a woman makes a habit of reciting surah mulk.
Can she recite when menstruating without touching the mus haf?

ANSWER:

Reciting Surah al-Mulk during makhsoos ayam (specific days of menstruation) is najaiz (impermissible) and a sin; its permission is not given. However, listening to the tilawat (recitation) of the Qur’an is not mamnu‘ (prohibited). Therefore, women should listen to the recitation during their makhsoos ayam and obtain its barakah (blessings).
