[Q 432] Mic Use in Sirri Recitation, Is Silent Recitation Affected by Mic? Sirri Salah with Amplified Voice

QUESTION:

What does sharia says in case the Imam recite too low in Sirri recitation that only he can hear himself with his own ear but he is actually using a collar mic and with the help of that every single namazi can hear every single word of the recitation.

ANSWER:

In the mentioned situation, where due to the speaker system the namazis (congregants) are able to hear the qira’at (recitation), but the imam is actually reciting in such a low voice that only he himself can hear it with his own ears — this will still be considered sirri qira’at (silent recitation).

This is because the classification of sirri (silent) or jahri (loud) recitation is based on the natural volume of the imam’s voice without a speaker system.

However, the imam should ideally place the mic at a slight distance from his mouth.
