Delaying iftar after sunset time

Question

What’s the ruling regarding a fasting person who did not instantly open his fast (Iftar) and he delayed it?

Answer

When it’s time for Iftar and one has full confirmation that it is now sunset time, then, fast should be opened instantly as delaying it without any valid reason is against Sunnah. For argument sake, if one does delay opening the fast, even then fast would still be considered to be valid. However, the action of delaying is against Sunnah and this should not be repeated again.
