الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب
Answer
For Nikah (نکاح), it is necessary to have the presence of two Muslim male witnesses or one male and two Muslim female witnesses along with Ijab-o-Qubool (ایجاب و قبول) in order to fulfill the process. The minimum amount of Mahr (مہر) should be equal to two tola and seven and a half masha of silver (approx 30.618grams)or its equivalent value. For Tajdeed-e-Nikah, in the presence of witnesses, the man should say to the woman that
” I’ve married you in exchange for X amount of Mahr” (this will be the Ijab), and the wife should say:
“I’ve accepted”(this will be the Qubool).
This will constitute the Nikah. After the Nikah, if the woman wishes, she can forgive the Mahr amount. Delivering a Khutbah at the Nikah is meritorious but not mandatory; the Nikah is valid even without the Khutbah.
Important Note:
It should be noted that if the renewal of Nikah is due to divorce or apostasy, then Mahr is necessary. However, if it is done as a precaution, then Mahr is not necessary; the Nikah is valid just with Ijab and Qubool in the presence of witnesses without Mehar.
