الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب
Answer
If a person joins the Eid prayer when the Imam has already pronounced one, two, or all three takbeers of the first rakat, then after starting the prayer, this person should pronounce the additional takbeers that were missed, raising his hands even if the Imam has started the recitation. After pronouncing the takbeers, he should then follow the Imam, meaning he should remain silent and listen to the recitation.
Mufti Amjad Ali Aazmi states in Bahar-e-Shariat: “If the muqtadi joins during the first rakat after the Imam has said the takbeer, he should say three takbeers right then, even though the Imam has started the recitation, and say only three, even if the Imam has said more. If he has not said the takbeers and the Imam goes into ruku, he should not say them while standing but should go into ruku with the Imam and say the takbeer there. However, if he finds the Imam in ruku and is fairly certain that he can say the takbeers before joining the Imam in ruku, he should say them while standing and then go into ruku. Otherwise, he should say ‘Allahu Akbar’ and go into ruku and say the takbeers there. Then, if he did not complete the takbeers in ruku because the Imam stood up from ruku, the remaining takbeers are dropped.”
