Question
What is the ruling in Shariah regarding watching a cricket game in the stadium, especially the one that lasts approximately four hours i.e T20?
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب
Answer
The enlightened teachings of The Islamic Law (Shariat) teach us to live a purposeful life by avoiding futility and waste of time, and just as it forbids play and (unlawful) amusement , it prohibits watching the spectacle of frivolity and in some way participating in it.
Usually, such matches are forbidden due to being considered play and (unlawful) amusement (according to Islamic rules).
Therefore, it is also not allowed to watch such matches which involve wasting time as well as other sins like music, looking at women etc.
Then, if the prayers are disrupted due to this, then its prohibition will be even more severe.
