[Q 186] Consuming Goods Before Purchase

Question

Is it ok to pick up something in the store you intend to buy and open it to consume it, then pay?

Basically eating the candy first and pay a little later when you go to the checkout counter (before leaving the store)

Answer

If the price of the item is fixed and known and it is permitted by the owner of the store or shop to do so, whether he has expressly permitted it or doing this is a custom in that place, then there is no harm in doing so.

And if the value of the thing is not known or the owner is not allowed to pay before the money is paid, then they cannot do so.
