[Q 165] What should Masbuq (one who joins Salah late) do after reciting عبده ورسوله’ in the final sitting of the prayer?

Question

If Imam is in the last Qa’dah of Fard Salah & masbooq (who missed 1 or more rakat) is now sitting in tashahhud with Imam…After reaching عبدہ ورسوله should masbooq keep quiet or should he keep repeating اشهد ان لا اله الا الله وأشهد أن محمد عبده ورسوله until Imaam does Salaam & masbooq stands up to read his missed rakat.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب

Answer

Whilst following the Imam in the last tashahhud, it is better for the masbooq to read the tashahhud slowly so that he finishes the tashahhud when the Imam says salaam and if there is still time until the Imam says salaam, then the masbooq should repeatedly recite the kalima of shahadat.

However, if the masbooq recites durood and dua in this time, then that Is not a sin and sajda sahw will not be necessary for him. Even if the masbooq remains quiet and does not recite anything, then that Is also not a sin. However, reciting the kalima of shahadat repeatedly is better than staying quiet.
