[Q 157] How is it to Only Perform the Fardh Rakats During Employment?

Question

If a person is doing a job and in that job prays only the fard salah – i.e . For zuhr sometimes prays full and sometimes just 4 farz because of the timing of break etc. is this okay?

Sometimes get to pray full salah and sometimes when there is a need to do wudu again so prays just fard salah, will the person be sinful?

I understand that it is better to do such a job in which the fard salah can be read without any problem but this isnt always possible- and the job does give breaks in which the fard can easily be read but the full namaz including the sunnah and nawafil cannot always be read.

الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب

Answer

Along with obligatory (Fardh) prayers, performing the necessary (Wajib) prayers i.e. Witr prayer in Isha and Sunnah Muakkadah (Emphasised Sunnah) is also necessary (Lazim), because it is a sin to leave the Fardh and the Wajib even once, and if it becomes a habit to leave the Sunnah Muakkadah, then the person becomes sinful. However, there is no sin in leaving the Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah and Nawafil.

Therefore, there will be no permission to leave the Sunnah Muakkadah permanently in the job. Usually, the Zuhr or Maghrib prayers fall within work hours, and these prayers with Sunnah Muakkadah can be completed in about 10 minutes. Therefore, it is not difficult.

As for the Sunnah and Witr of Isha, there is a lot of time available, so they can be read after the work hours.

Therefore, the summary is that the arrangement of performing the Fardh along with the Sunnah Muakkadah should be made.
