[Q 132] Ablution Validity with Toenail Medicine

Question

If someone has an infection in her toenail that she has to use nail polish type medicine for a long time (6 months) so what should be ruling regarding ablution. Is the wudu will be valid?

There is no other option available just tablets which have too many side effects for breastfeeding mum.

Discuss with farmacist and doctors, they said just this medicine is available for treatment.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الجواب بعون الملك الوهاب اللهم هداية الحق والصواب

Answer

If it is really such a disease that if it is not treated, there will be pain or the nails will be damaged and the expert doctor suggests that without this medicine, the treatment of this disease is not possible or possible but because of it, there is a high possibility of other diseases being caused or affecting the breastfed child (as is the case in the situation mentioned in the question), then in this case, permission to use such a medicine will be given as needed and in case of its application, ablution and bath will be valid.

Note: This answer is in the case that if the disease is really like this and for it, the medicine mentioned in the question is beneficial, however, if such a medicine is used only because it will keep the beauty of the nails intact while another medicine is available which is beneficial and does not cause any harm but only reduces the beauty of the nails, then in this case, in case of applying the medicine mentioned in the question, ablution and bath will not be correct but it will be necessary to remove this medicine.
