Understanding Hadith about Fasting

Question

What is the meaning of that Hadith (Whoever keeps fasts in Ramadan and then keeps six fasts in Shawwal, it is as if he has kept fasts for his entire life. Sahih Muslim 1164) , will that be for one year or entire life?

Answer

In the Hadith, the wording is

قَالَ مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتًّا مِنْ شَوَّالٍ کَانَ کَصِيَامِ الدَّهْر

it would be as if he fasted perpetually.

Actually it is for the one year as every good deed is equal to 10 times.

So Month of Ramadan is equal to 10 months and 6 days of shawal are equal to 60 days (2 months). And when the habit of someone is keeping fast every year like that (30 Ramadan + 6 Shawwal) it will be regarded as he fasts entire life.
