Wearing black clothing out of sadness at someone’s death

How is to wear black clothing out of sadness at someone’s death?

Answer

It is not allowed to wear black clothing out of sadness at someone’s death. However it is permitted for a widow to wear black clothing for three days out of sadness for her husband’s death. (Bahar-e-shariat) Some scholars have not given permission to wear black out of sadness at all, even not for a widow. This opinion is better and safer.

Remember If the black clothing is not to make one’s sadness apparent then it is allowed absolutely.
