Question
If anyone forgets Dua-e-Qanoot in Witr and remembers it when he has gone to Ruku, should he come back and read Dua or continue and do Sajda-e-Sahw?
Answer
If in Witr a person forgets to read Dua-e-Qanoot and remembers in Ruku or sajdah, he won’t return to read Dua-e-Qanoot, rather he must continue and at the end do Sajda-e-Sahw. If he completes prayer without doing Sajda-e-Sahw he will have to repeat his prayer.
Remember if an individual forgets to add surah after reading surah al-Fatiha and then he remembers it in Ruku or any time before sajda of that rak’aat he must return and add surah, and then do Ruku again and do Sajda-e-Sahw at the end.
So the ruling of forgetting surah is different from the ruling of forgetting Dua-e-Qanoot.
